As many of you know, our user group meeting, Centricity Healthcare User Group (CHUG), is in just one week, on October 5 in Orlando. CHUG represents GE Healthcare’s ambulatory EMR and PM customers, and always proves to be a great event. Personally, I’m looking forward to it for a three reasons: Keynotes, customers, and conversations.

Keynotes: We’ve got a dynamic set of keynote speakers in the general session. GE Healthcare IT VP and GM Michael Friguletto will share new developments in product strategy, and will also talk about how integrated care is helping to drive innovation in our business. Jim Corrigan, SVP and GM of the Americas Region, will host a customer panel on technology in physician practices. And finally, we will have the opportunity to hear TR Reid, an author and reporter at both NPR and PBS, share his opinions on the global quest for better, cheaper, and fairer healthcare. Given the heated political debate around healthcare in the United States, I am especially interested in this talk.

Customers: One of my favorite things about CHUG is that it brings together customers and GE Healthcare employees, yielding valuable insights. This year, I’m attending a meeting with a select group of customers ahead of the show, to dive into all things Centricity. We’ll discuss what’s working, what’s not, and how we can better meet customer needs alongside so many externally imposed government regulations like ICD-10 and Meaningful Use.  There are also many group sessions, led by customers, which I will attend. One that I’m especially interested in this year is led by Allied Pediatrics, who will discuss how they use Centricity in a hosted environment. As the world moves towards the cloud, I think it’s great to see our customers share best practices with each other on how to really leverage new technology.

Conversations: Finally, I am looking forward to CHUG for all of the great conversations. I’ll use the time to speak face to face with colleagues with whom I work virtually over the year, which is always good for team bonding. There are ample opportunities to socialize and meet new customers, too. And last, but not least, I’ll make sure to take a walk through the show floor to speak with the partners that help make Centricity a customizable solution for our customers.
