About Karen Perka
Knowledge Solutions Education Process Consultant
Karen L. Perka is a principal Education and Process Consultant with GE Healthcare Centricity Business Knowledge Solutions. As an Education Consultant, Ms. Perka is responsible for creating new business lines for education services, preparing custom training proposals for contract education services, curriculum development, education assessments of customer training programs, managing customer training projects, instructional design and courseware development for customer outsourcing contracts, and a training/process consulting resource for GE Healthcare Centricity Business implementations, upgrades, and customer requested training service projects. As a process consultant, Ms. Perka is responsible for analyzing operations to maximize system use and operational rigor.
Prior to her current position Ms. Perka served as Managing Director of Education Services from 1999 to 2002. Ms. Perka oversaw the development and delivery of more customer-focused education solutions, including training solutions for Basic Insurance Concepts, Advanced Product classes, learning pathways for GE Healthcare Centricity customer systems Analyst training, and education consulting services. Ms. Perka’s efforts have moved the customer-based education service line from strictly functional application training to a highly respected education consulting solutions service line.
Prior to joining the Knowledge Solutions organization, Ms. Perka was a software designer on the Patient Access Development Team with GE Healthcare Centricity Business Solutions. While in this position she specialized in designing patient registration, insurance management systems, and a system manager feature for global billing contracts.
Ms. Perka has 25 years’ experience working with IDX/GE Centricity Business Solutions software and professional experience in the healthcare industry including private practice management, Director of Coding at a staff model HMO, Assistant Director of Admitting at an Integrated Delivery Network, and a Business Manager for Patient Accounting at a community hospital. The extensive industry and technical experience enables Ms. Perka to be a contributing force to customer growth, success, and service excellence.
Ms. Perka attended The Ellis Hospital School of Nursing, Russell Sage College BSN nursing program, and the State University at Albany for business administration. Ms. Perka is a certified procedural coder and a graduate of a four-year extension Education for Ministry program through the University of the South in the School of Theology.
